Kurt began his advertising career in 1989 at J. Walter Thompson, Chicago as an Assistant Media Buyer. In 1991 Kurt transferred to the JWT San Francisco office and managed the regional buying groups for Gallo Wines, Jenny Craig and the California State Lottery. After learning the media planning and account management ropes, Kurt began working as a freelance Media Buyer/Planner and Account Manager for a number of top San Francisco agencies on the client side at eLoan and Green Dot as a Marketing Manager for long-term projects.
